Good morning world, today is my birthday. Being born is hard work, and now I need a nap!

This is a rare opportunity to observe a nesting pair of American Bald Eagles at the National Arboretum.  I’ve eagerly anticipated the birth of these two baby eaglets for several days. “Mr. President” and “The First Lady” laid their eggs on February 10 and February 14. The tension has been gradually building until one baby made its way out of the shell this morning. One egg has not hatched, so you still have an opportunity to watch this rare event.

Above is a screen grab after the first baby fully emerged from its egg. I’ve enjoyed watching  the live feed 24 hours a day on the DC Eagle Cam, and I hope you enjoy watching this miracle too. Feel free to comment and share your own screen grabs. Happy viewing!
